World Wrestling Entertainment has hired seasoned attorney Darren Traub as its new SVP of business and legal affairs, entertainment & talent management. Traub, a veteran attorney with experience in entertainment, technology, and IP, announced his new position at the company on social media, also revealing that he will officially begin in the new position on Jan. 25.

In this new role, Traub will manage legal-related issues for WWE television, film production, WWE’s film division, music, live events, talent management, “metaverse initiatives,” and gaming and streaming activities.

“Growing up, two sports moments impacted my life,” Traub wrote on social media. “The first was UGA winning the 1980 college football national championship (and 40 years later I’m still waiting for them to reclaim the title). The other was when Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the Giant. The epic “body slam heard round the world” not only showed you can get up off the mat, no matter how much abuse you have taken, but with a healthy dose of bravado you can then overcome even the biggest of obstacles that had knocked you down. From that moment, I was forever hooked on WWE.”

Prior to committing to this new role, Traub has served as a partner at several prestigious law firms including Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, Akerman LLP, and Herrick, Feinstein LLP over a nearly 16-year period.
