KIA Motors Secures Naming Rights to 2020 Worlds Champ DAMWON Gaming – The Esports Observer


League of Legends Championship Korea (LCK) team and 2020 League of Legends World Championship winners DAMWON Gaming announced that KIA Motors has secured the naming rights to the team. The team will now be known as “DWG KIA” when it plays in the LCK in 2021. Financial terms and length of the deal were not disclosed.  

The story was reported by esports journalist Ashley Kang, who was also given an official statement from DAMWON about the new deal:

“After a long consideration process, we are glad [DWG] has come to a sponsorship agreement. The fact our new sponsorship partner already has a track record of reaching out to international fans through esports sponsorship should fill the DWG KIA fans with excitement.”

DAMWON is one of 10 teams that have been selected to play in Riot Games Korea’s franchised League of Legends Champions Korea, alongside Afreeca Freecs,  DRX, Gen.G Esports, Hanwha Life Esports, Fredit BRION, KT Rolster, Liiv SANDBOX, T1, and NS RedForce.
