Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios Unveil New Season of Mortal Kombat Esports

The Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition will return for a second season, Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios announced on Monday. Season 2 will feature a $60K USD prize pool and sponsorship from Astro as its official audio partner.

The previous competitive circuit concluded in March 2020 and featured a $250K prize pool. Rather than taking place at select fighting game tournaments, the Pro Kompetition will follow the lead of many other fighting game pro circuits which have transitioned fully online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The series will be divided into three global divisions – North American League, IntertKontinental Kombat, and Liga Latina – each further divided into local circuits to reduce issues with online competition such as lag. Players will compete in local circuits to earn points which will qualify them for a regional championship event.
