A Twitch stream on Friday featuring U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Canadian Member of Parliament and New Democratic Party (NDP) Leader Jagmeet Singh generated $200K USD for community causes in the United States. The Among Us stream took place on Friday evening and featured Singh, Ocasio-Cortez, and popular streamers Hasan “hasanabi” Piker, Félix “xQC” Lengyel, Ryan “Northernlion” Letourneau, and others.

After the three-hour stream was over, Ocasio-Cortez announced on Twitter that she had raised $200K for eviction defense, food pantries, legal aid, and other community support organizations. Many of the issues these organizations tackle have been exacerbated by the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

Ocasio-Cortez‘s first three-hour Among Us Twitch stream (which featured Ben “DrLupo” Lupo,  Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Hasan “hasanabi” Piker, and Imane “Pokimane” Anys) in late-October generated approximately 332K average viewers, 438K peak concurrent viewers, and had roughly 1.14M views, with a total of 1.14M hours watched on the platform.
